On July 28th, the Guangdong Province Terahertz Industrial Technology Innovation Alliance and the Shenzhen Terahertz Science and Technology Innovation Association Inaugural Meeting was successfully held in Shenzhen Dayhello International Hotel. The conference reviewed and approved the association's charter, and elected the first council, standing council, president, vice president, chairman, deputy director, and secretary-general and so on. More than 100 representatives from enterprises, research institutions and investment and financing institutions from Guangdong Province and Shenzhen City gathered together to witness the important historical moment of the establishment of the alliance and association.

Liu Shenggang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the China Terahertz Science Collaborative Innovation Center; Yao Jianquan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the China Smart City Industry Alliance, attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech. Wu Guangsheng, chairman of CCT Group, said in the welcome speech that: “Manufacturing is the mainstay of the national economy and is the foundation of the country, the tool of rejuvenating the country, and the foundation of a strong country. CCT Group has invested heavily in the field of terahertz for many years and has continuously invested hundreds of millions of research funds. At present, terahertz technology is in a popular domestic market. Some technologies are already in the international leading position. We take the leading in achieving terahertz source from three ways at the same time. We developed and manufactured the practical products such as millimeter-wave human body scanner and spectrum analyzer. The establishment of alliance and association is the practice of Bao’an District’s “Intellectual Highland” and Shenzhen’s innovation-driven development strategy. I believe that the alliances and associations will continue to build a higher level of modernization and international innovation and contribution to Shenzhen city under the attention and support of leaders at all levels and all walks of life.

Feng Riguang, vice chairman of the Guangdong Association of Science and Technology, said in his speech that: “In today's increasingly fierce global trade competition, terahertz technology is one of the key technologies promoted by Guangdong Province and Shenzhen City. The Shenzhen Municipal Government’s "Government Work Report" in 2018 puts forward ‘Adhering to innovation as the first driving force for development, strengthening the coordination of all factors such as industry, R&D, market, capital, and talents, and unswervingly building more international competitiveness, the spirit of the ‘City of Innovation’. A group of companies that are interested in making a difference in the field of terahertz represented by CCT Group, the Guangdong Province Terahertz Industrial Technology Innovation Alliance and Shenzhen Terahertz Science and Technology Innovation Association are actively promoting the transformation of Shenzhen's intelligent manufacturing industry which is also an attempt to upgrade, improve quality and efficiency.” He hopes that this event will provide more and better new innovations, new ideas and new experiences in order to accelerate the development of terahertz technology and industrialization by communicating with experts and scholars in the field of terahertz.

Academician Yao Jianquan, director of the China Smart City Industry Alliance and a well-known laser and nonlinear optical expert, made a keynote speech on "The Opportunities and Prospects of China's Terahertz Industry and Its Applications." Academician Yao Jianquan introduced the development of terahertz technology at home and abroad, and introduced the achievements of the terahertz field at home and abroad and the important impact on human life, and demonstrated the future development of terahertz technology. The technology is inextricably linked with the fields of biology, medicine, physics, etc. Strengthening the research of terahertz waves in physics, biology and medicine has important significance for the development of various fields. At the same time, he was full of eager expectations for the newly formed alliances and associations. He hoped that the alliance and association would play their due role in strengthening academic and scientific exchanges and promoting the development of terahertz technology and industrial achievements.

 After the democratic voting and election of the participating members, Academician Liu Shenggang and Academician Yao Jianwei of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were appointed as honorary presidents of the Alliance and Association. Wu Guangsheng, Chairman of CCT Group, was elected as the president. Ding Qing, Executive Dean of Shenzhen Institute of Terahertz Technology and Innovation, was elected as Executive President and Secretary-General, and Jia Xingdong, president of Shenzhen Polytechnic, and other 9 people from all walks of life were elected as vice presidents.

At the meeting, Ding Qing, the first executive president of the association, made a report on the work of the association, explained the background and significance of the establishment of the association, and the association's articles, and reported to the member companies on the main work plans of the association in the future. He said that the alliance and the association will closely unite enterprises, institutions and universities in the terahertz field in Shenzhen and Guangdong and even the whole country, and give full play to the positive role of the association in the research and development of terahertz technology and the transformation of industrial achievements and to make positive contributions to the development of Shenzhen terahertz research and industrialization.

The establishment of the Guangdong Terahertz Industrial Technology Innovation Alliance and the Shenzhen Terahertz Science and Technology Innovation Association has positively enhanced the international prestige and influence of Baoan District and Shenzhen City in the field of terahertz science and technology, and stimulated terahertz academic innovation and technological innovation.
